GREENVILLE, SC, January 15, 2005—828 International
Trading Company appoints Cesar Pagan as director of styling and design.
Pagan, one of the industry’s most seasoned stylists, will be responsible for developing new colors and designs in hand-knotted, hand-tufted
and machine-made qualities. His contributions will enhance 828 International’s
impressive offering of traditional, transitional and contemporary
rugs.
Formerly vice president of styling and
design for Karastan, Pagan brings invaluable experience to 828
International. His career spans more than 40 years, embracing both
residential and commercial sectors of the soft flooring category.
He spent a quarter of those years at Karastan, actively initiating
every aspect of rug design—from concept to
completion—as he headed all efforts in color and
styling.
Pagan retired from Karastan in 2002,
though never tires of his passion for drawing and painting. He has
shared his love of fine arts with others by teaching at the
Spartanburg Art Museum. “I’ve enjoyed my retirement and
really had no intention of returning to the floor covering
industry,” admits Pagan. “However, it is hard to ignore
828 International. I have watched them grow into a leading-edge
company with the resources to create an incredible range of
products. When the opportunity to join them presented itself, I
couldn’t resist.”
“I have always been impressed with
Pagan’s designs,” adds Jim Clardy, president of 828
International. “His work has an aesthetic sense of style and
beauty that few in this industry can match. More importantly, Pagan
shares our vision and understands our business. We are extremely
excited to have him on our team.”
