GREENVILLE, SC, August 20, 2004—828 International’s
desire to bring its customers the best in beautifully affordable
rugs take Jim Clardy, company president, to the far corners of the
world. His adventures often lead to the Grand Trunk
Road—a 1,600-mile stretch across the breadth of the Indian
subcontinent. The rich history of this “Long Walk” and
its importance to the societies it touches has inspired 828’s
latest collection: GT Road.
The road, which links
India and Pakistan, represents the connection this collection has
with both cultures. All rugs are of Indo-Peshawar quality,
meaning they are Persian hand-knot weaves of very fine wool;
however, they are made in India making them extremely affordable.
The fiber used is a blended handspun Gazni wool that is patterned
in Oushak and Zigler designs. Sizes include standard, oversize and
runners with a suggested retail price of $999 for a 5' x 8'
828 International will
showcase GT Road, along with its entire line of
hand-knotted, hand-tufted, hand-hooked and powerloomed rugs, at the
New York Home Textiles Show from October 8-13 at Space 1112 in New
York’s 295 Fifth Avenue building. All rugs will also be on
display at the International Home Furnishings Market from October
11-20 in the company’s permanent showroom at 123 Market
Square in High Point.
